Hunter Mountain
Hunter Mountain Ski Resort is a popular ski destination located in the Catskill Mountains of New York, near the town of Hunter. The resort is located approximately 1 hour from the city of Albany and 3 hours from New York City, making it an easy and great day trip (or weekend) getaway for skiers and snowboarders in the New York metropolitan area. The mountain is not huge, so skiing everything at Hunter and getting back home in one day is easily done.
The ski season at Hunter Mountain typically runs from mid-December to late March, and the resort offers over 300 skiable acres with more than 60 groomed trails and two terrain parks for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy. Hunter offers snowmaking on their entire mountain, making it a reliable spot to ski the whole season.
In addition to their great ski slopes, Hunter Mountain also offers a variety of lodging options, including ski-in/ski-out condos, hotels and vacation homes, a variety of dining options with après-ski activities.

Season Passes

Hunter Mountain Ski Resort has a summit elevation of 3,200 feet, or 975 meters. However, not all of that elevation is able to be skied. The base of the ski slope sits at 1,600 feet above sea level, creating a ski hill that is 1,600 feet (488 meters) high. We get to this number by combining a number of metrics for each resort and comparing them to its peers. Most of the score is based off the amount of easy-intermediate-expert slopes by acreage and the maximum vertical drop of the overall resort, but also includes a few lesser-used metrics as well.
Our algorithm compares each resort’s metrics with all others in North America, then assigns each a Difficulty Score, which we use to rank them accordingly.
